In Myoko Kogen there are a couple of ski schools that are English speaking only. Outside of Myoko Kogen (apart from Arai and Madarao Kogen) English speaking ski instruction is more difficult to find. So perhaps before locking in your accommodation it’s best to explore the links below and ensure you have access to the sort of ski school lessons that you are seeking for your visit to the area.
If you are planning a family ski vacation to the Myoko Ski Resorts, it’s a very good idea to register your children early to attend one of the top Myoko Ski Schools.
One of these is Canyons Myoko – a snowsports school based in Akakura Onsen. They also offer lessons at all other resorts within the Myoko Kogen area (Ikenotaira Onsen Ski Resort, Akakura Kanko and Myoko Suginohara – lessons in other resorts may be available upon request). Need To Know
- Class Meeting Point: Check in at the agreed meeting point at least 15 minutes prior to your lesson;
- Full day lessons for kids and infants includes a meal and staff member looking after them for the lunch break;
- Minimum number for a group lesson to run is 2 people, maximum 8;
- Some lessons may combine age groups to make up minimum numbers;
- So that all participants get the most out of their lesson, please ensure that all participants in a private lesson are of a similar ability, and either ALL ski or ALL snowboard;
- Please see ability levels before you make a booking;
- Young children and adults learn at a different pace and in different ways, so we recommend that all participants in a private lesson are of a similar age;
- Some Myoko Kogen Ski School lessons may be full depending on the number of instructors available and the number of pupils enrolled on that day. Book as early as possible;
- We strongly recommend ALL lesson and tour participants have appropriate skiing-related travel insurance.

Opened in 2009, Myoko Snowsports‘ International School has bases offering ski & snowboard group & private lessons, beginner packages, advanced multi resort and powder programs from their bases in Akakura Onsen, Myoko Suginohara and Arai. They also offer lessons at all other resorts within the Myoko Kogen area. These cater for both adults and children from beginner to expert level.
